This week, Timbeco welcomed project partners from Iceland to our production facility to review the progress of the Fossvogsblettur Leikskóli kindergarten project in Reykjavík.
The visit provided an opportunity to inspect the completed and ongoing production works, discuss the upcoming installation phase, and align on the final steps before the building elements are shipped to Iceland.
Timbeco’s Second Kindergarten Project in Iceland
The Fossvogsblettur kindergarten marks Timbeco’s second kindergarten project in Iceland and represents an important milestone for both the project team and the local community. Once completed, it will become the largest kindergarten in Iceland constructed using timber structures.
The modern educational building has been designed to accommodate ten kindergarten groups and will provide a sustainable, high-quality learning environment for children in Reykjavík.
A Strong Track Record in Educational Buildings
Educational facilities have long been an important sector for Timbeco. Throughout the years, we have contributed to the delivery of numerous schools and kindergartens across different markets.
The Fossvogsblettur kindergarten is already the sixteenth educational building project—either a school or kindergarten—in which Timbeco has participated. These projects reflect our commitment to delivering durable, sustainable, and efficient timber construction solutions for educational environments.
Production Nearing Completion
Production at Timbeco’s factory is now entering its final stages. The majority of the building elements have been completed, and preparations are underway for transportation and site installation.
The installation phase is scheduled to begin during the Icelandic summer, offering the most favourable weather conditions for construction activities. This timing helps ensure efficient assembly on site and supports the successful delivery of a project that is important not only for our partners, but also for the City of Reykjavík and future generations of children who will use the facility.
