Tungelsta Orangerie – A Timber Building in Sweden

Location: Tungelsta, Haninge, Sweden
Building type: Café and bakery
Building area: Approx. 400 m²
Project partner: Turbinen
Timbeco’s scope: Engineering and erection of timber structures

Contemporary Timber Architecture Inspired by Local Heritage

In Tungelsta, near Stockholm, Sweden, Timbeco collaborated with property developer Turbinen to construct Tungelsta Orangerie, a distinctive café and bakery building.

The approximately 400 m² building draws inspiration from the area’s historic laundry houses and greenhouses, reflecting Tungelsta’s long-standing horticultural traditions and local architectural heritage.

The building combines traditional timber cladding, modern glass façades and exposed glulam load-bearing structures. Extensive glazing across the façades and roof creates a bright, spacious interior, where the timber structure also serves as a prominent architectural feature.

Technically Demanding Glulam Structures

Timbeco was responsible for the technical preparation and erection of the building’s timber structures.

One of the most challenging aspects of the project was the installation of the glulam load-bearing structures, which required precise engineering, careful planning and accurate connections between structural elements.

Through detailed engineering preparation and well-coordinated installation, Timbeco successfully delivered an architecturally demanding timber structure in which wood and glass form a harmonious whole.

A New Meeting Place for the Tungelsta Community

Tungelsta Orangerie is more than just a café and bakery. It is a welcoming meeting place for local residents and visitors.

The building’s distinctive architecture, expansive glass façades and exposed timber structures create a warm and inviting atmosphere, combining contemporary Scandinavian design with the natural character of wood.

The project demonstrates Timbeco’s expertise in delivering architecturally complex timber buildings in cooperation with Swedish construction and property development partners.

By combining engineering precision, extensive experience in timber construction and high-quality execution, Timbeco helps bring ambitious architectural concepts to life.
