Timbeco’s partnership with SmartSmallHouse AG began at the end of 2018. The purpose of the partnership is to provide Swiss customers with the best service in the production and erection of prefabricated wooden houses. Timbeco wants to combine the concept of ThermoLog® heat-efficient and ecological wooden houses with Vastu architecture.
Vastu shastra (vāstu śāstra) is a traditional Hindu architectural system, which literally means “architectural science”. Ancient Descriptive Texts on Vastu Shastra Architecture provide an overview of the principles of building design, layout, plot preparation, room layout and spatial geometry. Against Shastras, it contains traditional hindi and in some cases Buddhist beliefs, and aims to integrate architecture with nature. Geometric patterns (yantra) are used in the architecture of the buildings.
At the end of 2019, the first SmallGreen small house was completed in Switzerland. The house is built of prefabricated wooden elements. The potential of an exterior façade is endless for small houses, but this particular house uses Siberian larch treated with a solution of iron sulphate. Larch is considered to be one of the most durable species of wood because it is as durable as deep-impregnated material in its natural or untreated form. At the same time, the ferrous sulphate solution gives the wood a beautiful and durable gray tone within a few months and at the same time protects the wood against mold and rot.
