Oskaland Kindergarten Extension in Iceland
Timbeco completed the Oskaland Kindergarten extension project in Iceland as a full-service timber element construction solution. The approximately 600 m² building was designed to expand the existing kindergarten with four new group areas, creating a modern, safe, and functional learning environment for children.
The project included the complete process from design and engineering to the production of prefabricated timber elements and on-site installation. The building is based on a timber-frame element system combined with concrete floors and timber wall and roof structures, ensuring durability, energy efficiency, and rapid assembly.
One of the key aspects of the project was the exceptionally fast development timeline — from initial planning to foundation works and installation. The solution was optimized for efficient execution while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and long-term performance.
The structural solutions were specifically adapted to Icelandic conditions, taking into account seismic activity, demanding weather conditions, and strict fire safety requirements. By combining industrialized construction methods with tailored engineering solutions, Timbeco delivered a reliable and sustainable educational building in a challenging environment.
