Timbeco manufactured a kindergarten/elementary school of prefab timber frame elements in Finland. Also, at the Timbeco factory, prefab wall elements were equipped with large-scale windows. As lintels for the windows glued laminated timber was used, instead of regular timber, which is considerably stronger and enables to create long spans.
Since energy-efficiency was of great importance to the client, mastix similar to silicone was used for sealing the windows instead of taping. Mastix provides maximum air-tightness and remains, due to its elasticity, air-tight even after the windows are regulated.
Since the building was erected in winter, there was a risk of prefab timber frame elements getting wet. Thanks to high-quality packaging of prefab timber frame elements, the elements were protected from the weather during the erection of the building.
