Project Overview
Timbeco participated in the extension of the Torgkvartalet Shopping Center in Trondheim, Norway. The expansion added three floors of retail space totaling 150,000 m² and a garage with capacity for 150 cars.
Timbeco’s role included the design, production, and on-site installation of insulated exterior wall elements based on a timber frame structure.
Factory Package
The factory package included fully insulated wall elements, with window and roof covering materials installed directly on site. The building was made weatherproof within 7 weeks, allowing interior work to start earlier and keeping the project on schedule.
Project Challenges
Designing the wall elements required precise thickness control because the external building dimensions were fixed, and internal floor space could not be altered. Coordination with other contractors was crucial to meet tolerance requirements.
Another unique challenge was the installation of sloped wall elements, which required careful planning and execution.
