Last week, we successfully concluded a comprehensive three-month training series hosted by TalTech and Timbeco dedicated to industrial renovation, bringing together professionals to explore the technical, economic, and sustainability aspects of modern renovation projects.
\nThroughout the programme, participants gained valuable insights into the entire renovation process. We began by sharing industry best practices and discussing the characteristics of the existing building stock, as well as the important roles of consultants and housing associations in delivering successful projects.
\nThe training then covered the essential surveys and assessments required before renovation, followed by sessions on the building physics of prefabricated insulation panels, design principles, and architectural solutions that support high-quality renovation outcomes.
\nAs we progressed, we explored ventilation strategies, energy efficiency measures, renovation costs, and cost estimation methods\u2014equipping participants with the knowledge needed to balance performance, comfort, and financial feasibility.
\nSustainability was a key theme throughout the programme. Participants received an overview of circular economy policies in Europe and Estonia and learned about practical circular solutions that can be integrated into renovation projects. As part of this module, we also facilitated an interactive workshop focused on circular product development, to help improve the circular renovation solution developed in Drastic project.
\nAdditional sessions focused on fire safety requirements and long-term maintenance considerations, ensuring a holistic understanding of building performance throughout its lifecycle.
\nTo bring theory into practice, the training concluded with factory and site visits, providing participants with firsthand experience of innovative renovation solutions and their real-world implementation.
